DENVER (CBS4)– The names of four Denver Police Officers will be engraved on the memorial wall Wednesday.
Officer David Roberts was killed during a robbery spree in 1958.
Patrolman Samuel Carpenter and Special Policeman Stuart Harvey were shot and killed in November 1900. Both were working to protect a polling place on Larimer Street.
Patrolman Edward Smerdel, assigned to patrol duties, died accidentally while cleaning his weapon in July 1961.
The engraving began at 10 a.m. at the Fallen Officers Memorial in front of Denver Police Headquarters at 13th and Cherokee.
