Police Conduct Weekly Sweeps Of Occupy Site

DENVER (CBS4)- Occupy Denver protesters are sharing their space along Civic Center Park with scabies. That has prompted the City of Denver to conduct weekly sweeps of the area.

The mites are a big health issue. They burrow under the skin and can spread disease.

Police are conducting weekly sweeps of the Occupy site across from the state Capitol, clearing out sleeping bags and tents. They also spray down the area using hoses.

About 30 protesters remain at the Occupy site. Demonstrators started gathering there in October 2011. At the height of the Occupy movement there were a couple of hundred people camping out at the site during the weekends.
