3 US Hikers Detained In Iran To Speak In Denver

DENVER (AP) -- Three Americans detained in Iran after hiking near the Iraq-Iran border in 2009 are scheduled to speak at Amnesty International USA's annual general meeting in Denver.

Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Josh Fattal are scheduled to give a keynote address Saturday. The three-day general meeting ends Sunday.

Iranian soldiers arrested Bauer, Shourd and Fattal in July 2009. Iran accused them of spying and illegally entering the country, but the three have said they unknowingly stepped across an unmarked border with Iran as they were hiking.

Shourd was released after 14 months. Fattal and Bauer were held for more than two years. Oman helped mediate their release.
