GREELEY, Colo. (CBS4)- A teen arrested in a child abuse case may be facing more serious charges after the toddler died.
On Saturday, a 2-year-old died just two days after he was injured while a 17-year-old was watching him. The teen claimed the child had fallen.
Doctors called police at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday to North Colorado Medical Center after they noticed the little boy had serious injuries. He was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Aurora.
Greeley Police Sgt. Susie West said the teen babysitting the child was a relative. Police initially charged the teen with child abuse resulting in serious injury.
Now that the toddler has died from his injuries, West said the charges will almost certainly be amended to child abuse resulting in death but that decision will come from the district attorney.
