Firefighter Burned In Yuma Co. Wildfire Recovering From Surgery
YUMA, Colo. (CBS4)- A firefighter burned while fighting a wildfire on Colorado's plains is recovering from surgery.
Jennifer Struckmeyer was burned on Sunday while fighting a wildfire in Yuma County that scorched 24,000 acres.
Sheriff Chad Day said the surgery for Struckmeyer went better than expectted and that she "continues to fight heroically every day."
The fire destroyed two farm houses. About 400 head of cattle remain unaccounted for.
The Colorado Farm Bureau is raising money for the farmers and ranchers in a fundraiser planned for Saturday in Yuma.
