Officer In Federal Heights Shoots, Injures Driver

FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Federal Heights say two of their officers were involved in a dramatic shooting overnight.

A woman called police just after midnight, saying a man in a white pickup truck followed her to her home on the 2000 block of 91st Place.

After the two officers arrived at the residence they got out of their vehicle and approached the pickup. Police say the truck suddenly pulled forward and knocked one officer over.

It then backed up and, according to police, "pinned the other officer in between the open passenger door and adjacent vehicles."

The officer was dragged for a short time behind the truck and then opened fire.

The driver was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds but their injuries were described as non-life threatening. That person hasn't been identified.

Both officers were okay after the incident. One was treated and released at the hospital for minor injuries.
