4-Year-Olds Targeted For Colorado Storybook Giveaway

DENVER (AP) - Colorado 4-year-olds are in line for free storybooks from a group of libraries and literacy charities that want to have all the state's 4-year-olds reading the same book.

The "One Book 4 Colorado" initiative was announced Tuesday by Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia. The chosen book has not yet been announced.

State officials say that than 70,000 copies of the same book will be distributed to children at local library events and at Reach Out and Read clinics and doctors' offices between April 18 and April 29.

The program is sponsored by the Reach Out and Read charity and a group of public libraries. The statewide giveaway is modeled after the Preschool One Book One Denver program.
