ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)– Police in Englewood are investigating a shooting involving at least one of their officers in a stolen vehicle investigation.

The shooting happened at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Walgreens parking lot near the intersection of Broadway and Dartmouth.

Witnesses said two officers approached a vehicle parked in the parking lot, a white Mustang, and told a man to get out. Then the witness heard five shots and saw the officers pull the man out of the car.

Police said the officers approached the vehicle and the man refused to get out. One officer then opened fire when the man reached for a gun.

The officers believe the man was a suspect in a stolen vehicle investigation. Earlier in the day, officers arrested two suspects in connection with the investigation.

The man died from his injuries. The officers were unharmed.

I am always on the side of the police but 5 shots? Not sure how he knew he was reaching for a gun from where he was standing. But then again I was not there and it wasn’t my life that was at risk. What a shame for all involved.
