DENVER (CBS4)- The college student who threw a glitter bomb at Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will not be expelled.

Peter Smith admitted he targeted the candidate at a campaign appearance in Denver. Smith, 20, said he did it to show support for gay rights.

The incident prompted state Democrats to fire smith from his Senate internship at the state Capitol.

Smith met with administrators at University of Colorado Denver and said the school decided to take no disciplinary action.

Smith said he’s not sorry he glitter bombed Romney.

If this type of situation occurred with a gay-rights supporter as the victim, the student would have most likely been expelled.

I am sorry he missed Romney but, he can’t go around throwing things at people and not be punished for it. Maybe his parents are big donators to the school? Something is wrong here, it could have easily been something dangerous that he threw.

In other words, the school condones his actions.
    How ridiculous.
    Cut their funding!

Typical acedamia. They probably loved what he did. I really hope some day he is shown disrespect in a bigger way than he showed Romney. He is a disgusting individual, but not surprising for a CU student.

If he did the same thing to a Democrat he would have been expelled.
