Police Chase Suspects Allegedly Carjacked Vehicle In Brighton

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) - Two carjacking suspects are behind bars after leading police on a high speed chase through Colorado and Nebraska.

The chase started on Friday in Brighton. Police say two men stole a car at gunpoint.

They were posing as potential car buyers and arranged to meet the victim in a Target parking lot.

The chase ended in Kearney, Neb., after the suspects opened fire on police and then wrecked the car in a ditch.

Aleksandr Voznyuk, 22, of Sioux Falls, S.D., was arrested after the chase. Petr Strizheus, 18, of Harrisburg, S.D., initially escaped but was spotted morning at a library in the town of Minden.

Police think the suspect went to the library to try and email associates.

"It's kind of weird that they would go to a library, but I mean there's not many places to hide, and I'm glad they caught them," Stephanie Christian said.

Police think the suspect went to the library to try and email associates.

No one was injured in the carjacking or the chase.

One patrol car was hit by a bullet.
