Newborn Healthy After Mom Struck By Lightning While Pregnant

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)– A mother and newborn are happy and healthy months after the woman was struck by lightning while pregnant.

Stephanie Alberti was just three months pregnant when she was hit by lightning. She was at a race track, cheering on her husband, when she was struck. Alberti was left temporarily paralyzed.

For the next six months she went to the doctor every week to check on her baby.

Sophia arrived in the world as a healthy baby girl, although her parents joke about superpowers.

“I’m going to have the lightning bolt at Halloween and she’s going to be the superhero all the time,” said Alberti’s husband.

“We joked when I was pregnant she would have some sort of superhero personality or superhero abilities,” said Alberti.

Four others were struck by lightning at the same time. All are okay.
