Cell Phone Service To Improve At Sports Authority Field With $10M Upgrade

DENVER (CBS4)- Some cell phone customers will soon have better service inside Sports Authority Field at Mile High thanks to a $10 million upgrade.

Verizon Wireless installed miles of cables and 210 antennas in the process of upgrading its data network inside the stadium.

Both the Denver Broncos and Verizon have received complaints about the service and hope the upgrade helps.

Fans should be able to use their phones without any issues from now on.

"What we're doing now with the new antenna system is really enhancing the capacity for smartphones and the ability to get on the internet," Verizon Wireless Public Relations Manager Robert Kelley.

"We had a soft launch the previous two games. It's been well received. We especially with the new 4G technology," Denver Broncos Manager of Marketing Partnerships Derek Thomas.

The Broncos said they're approached other carriers to install more antennas but were told the companies aren't interested.
