DENVER (CBS4) – Volunteers of America is stepping up to give families in need something to be thankful for.
Volunteers assembled Thanksgiving baskets with turkey, fruit, sweet potatoes and side dishes Saturday. The organization reports an overwhelming turnout of struggling families to pick up vouchers for the baskets.
“These are families who are struggling right now and came down here on Monday. We had 1,500 vouchers and they were all given away in less than 3 hours,” Jim White with Volunteers of America said.
The nonprofit will hand out the baskets Monday.
