Blizzard Conditions Shut Down Town Of Kiowa

KIOWA, Colo. (CBS4) - Tuesday night and Wednesday morning's snowstorm dropped 11 inches in Fort Collins and Evergreen found 8.5 inches. But in Elbert County residents are still digging out after a foot of snow fell to the ground.

"It had to come sooner or later," Elizabeth resident Vern Lown said.

Eric Stephenson of Elizabeth was hoping to work on Wednesday, but school was cancelled. That gave him another set of hands with the help of his son to get his car dealership on its feet again.

"Mother Nature brought everything that the weathercasters predicted, but we got the wind to follow it," Elbert County emergency manager Cory Stark said.

The town of Kiowa was completely shut down -- the lights at Town Hall never turned on.
