DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Department of Agriculture is warning cattle owners after several cases of a bovine venereal disease were reported.

State Veterinarian Dr. Keith Roehr says cattle should be tested to prevent the spread of the disease.

So far this year, there have been positive trichomoniasis cases in eight Colorado counties, including Baca, Bent, Conejos, Costilla, Custer, La Plata, Las Animas, and Otero.

The disease causes fertility problems, including early embryonic death or abortion of the calf.
