Police ID Driver Of Truck That Spilled Material Onto I-70 Causing Crashes
WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Wheat Ridge police have found the driver who spilled a soil-like material along Interstate 70 that caused several crashes.
The worst area was between Ward Road and Wadsworth Monday morning during rush hour. Ten cars and two motorcycles crashed in the eastbound lanes of I-70 after losing control on slick pavement.
Police say a truck driven by Victor Ward spilled the material. The truck is owned by Evergreen Disposal Services. The company is helping investigators determine why the material spilled.
Ward has been cited for "spilling a load on a highway."
Six people were hospitalized after the crash. None of the accidents were described as being life threatening.
