DENVER (CBS4) – Playing Powerball will cost twice as much in the new year.
The 44 state lotteries that run Powerball say tickets will go up to $2 starting Jan. 15. Colorado hopes it will translate into more money for state parks and schools.
As part of the price increase prizes will grow as well. Jackpots will double to $40 million and the odds of getting a winning ticket will improve slightly from one in 35 to one in 32.
