Woody Creek Taxi Driver Faces Charges Over Free Rides

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A Woody Creek taxi driver is facing contempt of court charges for continuing to offer rides for tips.

Phil Sullivan is scheduled to appear in court Friday to explain why he ignored a judge's order to stop offering rides.

Sullivan was nabbed by a sting operation by the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, which regulates taxi service.

According to the Aspen Times, Sullivan has racked up more than $13,000 in fines since 2006. Sullivan says he is offering a public service.
