Bear Dies In Fort Collins After Being Tranquilized
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - A small black bear tranquilized by state wildlife officials has died after the bear fell out of a tree.
Wildlife officials say the female bear had been walking around Fort Collins for several days and ignored attempts on Monday to scare it away.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife Officer Chad Morgan tells the Fort Collins Coloradoan that death is a risk when officers step in to handle problem animals. He says officers were unable to get a tarp into position fast enough to break the bear's fall.
