Vail Weighs Joining Lawsuit Against Travel Firms

VAIL, Colo. (AP) -- The Vail Town Council is considering whether to join a lawsuit accusing multiple online travel companies of not paying full sales and lodging tax amounts due to Colorado towns and cities over the last decade.

The town of Breckenridge filed the lawsuit in July against companies including Expedia, Hotwire, Orbitz, Hotels.com, Priceline and Travelocity and sought class-action status for it.

Vail's Town Council on Tuesday tabled a resolution that would have made the town part of the lawsuit. The Vail Daily reports council members had questions about costs associated with signing on for such a lawsuit and what the town could potentially recover.
