Denver To Make Possible Bid For 2022 Winter Olympics

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and Gov. John Hickenlooper are considering a possible bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Hancock's spokeswoman said the discussion is still very early in the process.

"We are going to have discussions coming up with the state. But to go so far as to say a committee is going to be created is going too far," said Hancock spokeswoman Amber Miller.

Colorado was awarded the 1976 Winter Olympics but turned down the International Olympic Committee after a majority of voters said they didn't want to spend tax dollars on the games.
