DENVER (CBS4)- Denver Mayor Michael Hancock and Gov. John Hickenlooper are considering a possible bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics.

Hancock’s spokeswoman said the discussion is still very early in the process.

“We are going to have discussions coming up with the state. But to go so far as to say a committee is going to be created is going too far,” said Hancock spokeswoman Amber Miller.

Colorado was awarded the 1976 Winter Olympics but turned down the International Olympic Committee after a majority of voters said they didn’t want to spend tax dollars on the games.

Oh holy gods, please no. And why Denver? Denver doesn’t have ski slopes. It should be Steamboat or Telluride; not that those little towns could ever handle the the human traffic.

    Oh and Aspen

Sure, lets build another 500 Million dollars worth of building to support an Olympics, then sell them for a $1to some developer after its over. What a disaster for the tax payers in the making.

Voted it down in ’76 and will do so again! This native Denverite DOES NOT ever want the Olympics anywhere in her home state! The DNC was bad enough!

If Border jumping becomes an Olympic sport Colorado is sure to win many Gold medals!
