Garage Packed With Sentimental Items Burns Near Bennett
BENNETT, Colo. (CBS4) - A garage fire burned a lot more than just a building on a ranch near Bennett. There was a lot of sentimental value inside.
Copter4 was over the fire Tuesday afternoon. The flames broke out just behind the garage and spooked a few horses in a nearby corral. A child ran over and let out the horses.
It turned out the garage was full of fond memories.
"Sentimentally you wouldn't think there would be much in a garage, but my husband and I met dirt bike racing 15 years ago. His trophies of that time were in there and it's all gone," homeowner Jenny Smith said.
Sheriff Grayson Robinson said the fire was started by children playing with matches. No charges will be filed.
A diesel truck, four 4-wheelers, a welder, air compressor, front-end loader, four dirt bikes and construction tools were destroyed. Damage is estimated at $100,000.
