Cars Strike, Kill Man Walking On The Highway

BRIGHTON, Colo. (CBS4) – Two cars hit a man walking in the fast lane of Interstate 76 Sunday night.

It happened at about 9 p.m. I-76 near 88th Avenue.

Officials with the Colorado State Patrol said the man is from the Denver metro area and is between 30 and 50.

“This is a dark area and it’s an interstate,” Trooper Dave Siefken said. “And there’s reasons why we don’t allow pedestrians out on the interstate. Vehicles are traveling at 75 mph, which is a little more than 80 to 90 feet per second. So there’s not a lot of reactionary time.”

The drivers who hit the man are cooperating with the Colorado State Patrol.

Authorities said neither of the drivers were drunk or appeared to have been using any kind of drug.

How awful for all involved, wonder what the guy was doing walking in the fast lane? I hope we hear more about this story as facts unfold. He probably never knew what hit him, the drivers are going to have to live with this unfortunate incident their entire lives, what a shame.

I’M REALLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE SO-CALLED REPORTERS NOT KNOWING GRAMMAR!” NEITHER OF THE DRIVERS” IS SINGULAR ,WHILE “WERE” IS PLURAL! GET YOUR TENSES CORRECT!

This is very unfortunate. But this is something that both drivers were unable to avoid. It is very sad it had to happen like this. I wonder if this could be a possible suicide, or maybe it was just all an accident. What I want to know is what he was doing out there. It’s probably heartbreaking for the drivers, knowing they were able to do nothing at all, and thinking it was their fault when it really isn’t as far as the media’s information.
