Western Slope Doctors Indicted On Drug Charges
DENVER (AP) - A Western Slope doctor is in federal custody and another is wanted after they were indicted on charges they overprescribed painkillers to patients, leading to the deaths of four people.
Dr. Sam Jahani and Dr. Eric Peper are charged with health care fraud, money laundering and dispensing controlled substances resulting in death. The indictments were unsealed Tuesday.
According to the Denver Post, the indictment says that over a four-year period, Jahani and Peper committed fraud out of their medical clinics, Urgent Care Inc., in Delta, Montrose and Grand Junction.
