Baseball Tournament Canceled By Promoters

VAIL, Colo. (AP) - A baseball tournament that attracted more than 300 youth baseball teams has been canceled.

The Vail Valley Partnership and the Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation District were notified Tuesday that the event promoters canceled the tournament this week due to unforeseen circumstances with the Optimist Club helping to sponsor the event.

The event was expected to attract more than 6,000 participants and spectators. It was scheduled to begin July 24.

Partnership director Chris Romer tells the Vail Daily he is optimistic that sporting events and youth tournaments will continue.
