Edgewater Police Surround Empty Home During Search For Bank Robber

EDGEWATER, Colo. (CBS4) – Edgewater police and SWAT teams staked out a home looking for a bank robbery suspect on Sunday.

Law enforcement surrounded the home for several hours before realizing no one was inside. The search for the armed robber is still on.

Just after 10 a.m. Edgewater police were called to a robbery that happened at the TCF Bank at 17th and Sheridan. Police used a tracking device inside a stolen bag of money to lead them to a quad-plex near 15th and Vrain. The building was evacuated and reverse 911 calls went out to a six block radius telling residents to stay inside.

Police describe the suspect as a dark-skinned male wearing a red hat and sunglasses.

“We do not believe that anybody that lives inside of the quad-plex is currently suspects in this case, but we are still investigating that,” Vicki Ferrari with Denver police said.

Police say the suspect is considered dangerous.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.

OK, so the cops are standing around an empty house “for hours.” Guy’s probably in Mexico by now. Great job, boys! Glad we can count on you to solve the big crimes instead of just being able to count on you to act as tax collectors who give everyone going 4 mph over the speed limit a speeding ticket. Way to go!

This incident does NOT make me feel safe. I live right across from the house that was surrounded, and did not receive the reverse 911 call. I just saw the police and SWAT teams outside my windows for hours. They went into the house several times – why didn’t they realize it was empty? What a waste.

Laura, you have no idea what goes into hunting a person down, it takes time and effort. If you seriously think they have fled to mexico by now, you’re an idiot. And seeing as you got a speeding ticket for going over 4 MPH doesn’t give you the right to complain about it everytime the situation leans towards police. i think you need to think before you talk about police, and i’m glad you got a ticket once, hopefully you get another and they take your non-speed-limit reading ass off the roads.
Tina, ohhhhh Tina, have you registered your number with 911 to recive reverse 911 calls? if you haven’t you should do that before you jump the gun and complain about not feeling safe when your to dumb to do the things that will make you safe.

Both of you need to not talk out load in public or online. I’m not going to say that i hope you ever need the police, but Cops do what they can to make things safer. If they give you a speeding ticket it’s because you were speeding, let it go you’re not special suck it up, or give you resources to make yourself safer, now if you’re not smart enough to take thouse resources don’t complain about it. Thank you both for your complete lack of intelligence in writing something before you think about it.
