Victim In Clear Creek Car Death Identified As 96-Year-Old

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - Police say a man who died when the car he was driving went into Clear Creek was 96 and that his death was accidental.

The car driven by Ettore Scena, of Wheat Ridge, dropped into the creek in Prospect Park Wednesday morning after witnesses said it jumped its parking block. Police said the creek swept it approximately 1,000 feet before it came to rest.

It took emergency crews nearly two hours to get Scena out of the car because of the swift-moving water.

"It sounds like the gentleman either had a medical emergency or had an issue with the car or something," Arvada fire spokesman Scott Pribble told CBS4. "From talking to the witnesses it doesn't sound like it was an intentional action. It sounds like it was just an accident."
