SUPERIOR, Colo. (CBS4) – How fast can a 10-year-old run a mile?

At the Superior Downhill Mile, Tyler Scholl, 10, finished in 4 minutes and 40 seconds. He shattered the previous record for children under 12 by a full 50 seconds.

The event is in conjunction with Superior’s Fourth of July parade and pancake breakfast. The parade wound through Superior neighborhoods and ended at Community Park.

The race started at Rock Creek Parkway and McCaslin Boulevard and is called the “Fastest Street Mile in the United States.”
