DURANGO, Colo. (AP) – Authorities say a boy fell about 100 feet while hiking in the San Juan mountains of southwest Colorado, but his condition wasn’t immediately known.
Butch Knowlton of the La Plata County Emergency Management Office says the boy was airlifted from the Chicago Basin area by helicopter on Sunday night.
Knowlton told the Durango Herald he didn’t know the boy’s age. No one answered the phone at Knowlton’s agency on Monday.
Knowlton says officials were alerted to the fall at about 1 p.m. on Sunday.
