Wildfire Closes I-25 Into New Mexico

DENVER (CBS4) - The Colorado State Patrol has closed Interstate 25 near the New Mexico border due to a wildfire.

Drivers are not being permitted to drive past mile marker 11 because of the fire burning near Raton, N.M. Local residents can cross mile marker 11 but cannot cross the border into New Mexico.

The fire is located north of Raton and is burning on both sides of the interstate.

Officials said the fire has burned more than 6,000 acres, doubling in size since Sunday. About 200 structures are threatened and some homeowners have been asked to evacuate.
