Kayakers Enjoying The High Water In Clear Creek

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Despite rushing water, people were out enjoying Clear Creek on Sunday.

Kayakers say they haven't seen the creek as fast as now since the 1980s. They call the water world class, but they also warn that speed can be dangerous.

"This is a powerful river right now. You can get really hurt if you don't know what you are doing," kayaker Matt Ward said.

"It's pretty dangerous, but it's worth it," a tuber said.

"My mom wouldn't be too happy. We're risk takers," another tuber said.

Tubing and small rafts are still permitted on Clear Creek. Tubing is banned on the Poudre River right now. Officials in Larimer County say its just too dangerous.
