Crews Near Containment Of 3 Southeast Colorado Fires

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Firefighters are nearing containment of three major wildfires in southeast Colorado.

Fire managers say a 10,070-acre fire north of Kim is about 50 percent contained, with 100 percent containment possible by Sunday night. Fire information officer Andy Rothleutner says higher humidity and rain on the fire have helped.

Fort Carson officials say two wildfires burning on the Army's Pinon Canyon training site were each 90 percent contained Sunday as favorable winds and rain moved over the area. Together, those fires are burning on about 68 square miles.

All are believed to have been sparked by lightning.
