Police: Former Brothel Owner Reports Break-In

Written by Brian Maass
DENVER (CBS4) - CBS4 has learned Scottie Ewing, the former owner of the Denver Players/Denver Sugar prostitution ring, has told Denver police his southwest Denver home was broken into Monday night and sources say a computer and records related to the prostitution business were stolen.

CBS4 was unable to reach Ewing Tuesday evening.

Ewing, who lists an address on South Vrain Street, pleaded guilty in February to one count of tax evasion in connection with his ownership of the prostitution business. He was placed on home detention for 6 months and ordered to repay back taxes.

Denver police confirm the CBS4 report saying the burglary apparently took place between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday evening at Ewing's home.

"We had a call of a burglary," said Lt. Matt Murray of the Denver Police Department. "We're not going to talk about what was taken."

Murray did say there was "forced entry to the home."

Another police source told CBS4 all that was reported taken was a computer and paper records, but that other items typically of interest to burglars were left behind.

"We have assigned a detective to the case," Murray said.
