Southwestern Colorado Wildfire Contained

LA JUNTA, Colo. (AP) - Firefighters are continuing to monitor a wildfire that blackened about 4,500 acres of canyon lands southeast of La Junta.

Kiowa County emergency manager Chris Sorensen says the fire started Thursday after a lightning strike and is now fully contained.

No homes were damaged and no injuries were reported.

Crews in Las Animas County are also continuing to monitor hot spots from the Bear and Purgatoire fires that were fully contained Saturday after burning all of last week.
