Firefighters To Keep Fighting Lefthand Canyon Fire Through Weekend
BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Fire crews fighting the wildfire burning in Lefthand Canyon will remain on the fire lines over the weekend. Firefighters have been facing challenges like heat, steep terrain and the threat of rocks falling from above.
The fire is burning near a shooting range and unspent ammunition is going off while fire crews fight the fire.
The Lefthand Canyon off-highway vehicle area (OHV) will be closed to recreation activities throughout the weekend. For updates on accessibility after Sunday, people are urged to call the Boulder Ranger District at (303) 541-2500.
Over the weekend, crews will continue mopping up and reinforcing the perimeter while watching for potentially hazardous changes in weather. Once the area shows a low potential for moving fire over the fire line, crews will change to monitoring status.
