White Powder Determined To Be No Hazard After Evacuation

DENVER (CBS4) - A state office building was evacuated for a short time Wednesday morning after a suspicious white powder was found in a package in the building.

Hazmat teams responded to the building -- the Capitol Annex at 1385 Sherman -- and after about an hour they said the powder posed no threat.

Officials closed Sherman from 13th to 14th while the operation was going on and about 500 people who were evacuated were given clearance to return to the building after 11 a.m.

Police believe a disgruntled taxpayer sent the letter to disrupt the Department of Revenue.
