CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (CBS4) – It was a successful launch Saturday of a rocket carrying a high-tech satellite built by Lockheed Martin.

Colorado-based United Launch Alliance was behind the Atlas 5 rocket lift-off from Cape Canaveral. Once in orbit, the satellite on board will be able to detect missile launches from around the world. It has vastly improved infrared technology.

Buckley Air Base in Aurora served as mission control for the launch.
