La Plata County Man Held In Friend's Death

DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - A La Plata County man is being held on $500,000 bail after the shooting death of his friend near Hermosa.

The Durango Herald reports Justin Wiese, 35, was being held on suspicion of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of 42-year-old Darrick Zuber. Wiese had called 911 Wednesday to report finding Zuber's body on the dining room floor after Zuber spent the night at his home.

Sheriff's officials didn't say why an arrest warrant was issued for Wiese, who turned himself in Friday. A phone message left Saturday for Wiese's lawyer, David Greenberg, wasn't immediately returned.

A Durango Mountain Resort spokeswoman says Zuber worked about 10 years in the ski area's maintenance department, and Wiese has worked in the resort's information-technology department for about six years.
