Bonny Reservoir In Northeast Colorado To Be Drained

BURLINGTON, Colo. (AP) - The Colorado Division of Wildlife plans to recommend that limits on fish caught at Bonny Reservoir be eased as the state prepares to drain the reservoir in northeastern Colorado.

Bonny Reservoir will be drained to comply with a compact with Kansas and Nebraska on use of the Republican River.

Farmers in the area have urged legislators to drain Bonny Reservoir to reduce the number of wells that will have to be shut off to comply with the compact. State officials say as a result, most of the fish likely will be lost.

A final decision on fishing limits at the reservoir hasn't been made yet.
