School Bus Driver Cited In Collision With Car, Pregnant Woman Taken To Hospital

DENVER (CBS4)- A woman, who is six months pregnant, was rushed to a hospital Tuesday after the car she was riding in struck a school bus.

Police said the school bus and car collided at the intersection of 8th Ave. and Zuni at about 2:45 p.m. Police in Denver said the school bus from Denver Public Schools turned in front of the car, causing the collision.

A pregnant woman who was riding in the car was taken to the hospital. She texted her husband that she and the baby were okay.

"A bus pulled in front of me, I braked as hard as I could, locked up my tires, skidded probably 10-15 feet, and actually went under the bus. The bus dragged me about 40 feet before it realized that it made a mistake and stopped," said the driver of the car James McCotter.

Police said the bus driver was cited for taking the right of way on a left hand turn, which is a violation because the other driver had the right of way at the time.

The bus was on the way to a school. No children were on the bus.
