Detectives are not revealing much information about the role the women allegedly played in the suspected double murder-for-hire case. Amara Wells, 39, and her brother-in-law, Robert Rafferty, 49, were found stabbed and shot to death in his home near Castle Rock in February.

Investigators believe that Rafferty's wife was also a target, but she was out of town at the time.

"The investigation led to the belief that these two women had some part in it. We can't release what part of it. You can see looking at the changes what role they could have played or what they had to do with it," said Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy Cocha Heyden.

Four men have been charged with murder in the case. Christopher Wells was Amara's estranged husband and is accused of arranging the hit. Wells has been in custody since the day before the murders on suspicion of violating a restraining order after he allegedly sent hundreds of text messages to his ex-wife.

Wells is facing charges of first degree murder, criminal solicitation, conspiracy, violations of bond and protection order.
