Boulder County Sheriff Investigates Deadly Glider Crash

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4/AP)- One person was killed when a glider crashed near 6800 block of Baseline Road on the east side of Baseline Reservoir.

Boulder Sheriff Deputies are investigating the crash. One person was killed in the crash which happened at about 5:15 p.m. The deceased was the only person on board the glider.

Boulder Sheriff Commander Rick Brough could not confirm if the glider was registered to the Youth Glidering Association based in Boulder.

The accident is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Wreckage from the glider crash is scattered over a large field, an estimated 300 square yards.

The closest house is about 50 yards away, but several people saw the accident. He says there was a power outage around the same time, but it's unknown if there's any connection to the accident.
