Police Say Driver Who Struck Lafayette Patrol Car Was Drunk

LAFAYETTE, Colo. (CBS4) - Police say a driver who was drunk caused an accident in Lafayette on Friday that left a police officer injured.

The incident happened at 5:20 a.m. near 120th and Baseline. An officer was doing a traffic stop and was in his patrol car when the driver smashed into his car.

The driver tried to drive off after the crash but he only made it about half a mile before his vehicle broke down, according to authorites. He was arrested.

The officer hurt his head in the collision and is getting treatment.
