Plane Makes Emergency Landing At DIA

DENVER (CBS4 ) – A plane circled Denver International Airport for more than an hour before finally making an emergency landing on Tuesday.

American Airlines flight 3045 was headed from Denver to Los Angeles, but it never left the front range.

Passengers told CBS4 a funny noise prompted the crew to return to DIA. Before they could land, the plane had to circle to burn off fuel, which made some of the 44 passengers anxious.

"Technical trouble when you're in the air is always something that is going to give you some anxiety, but it would have helped to know. I'm just the kind of person that likes to know," said passenger Laura Danly.

The plane landed safely and passengers were booked onto other flights.

Mechanics inspected the plane for problems after the landing. What happened has not been released by American Airlines.
