Firefighters Save Man's Life In Duplex Fire

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Firefighters saved a man from a burning duplex in Aurora early Saturday morning.

The fire happened at 6 a.m. on East 16th Place near the intersection of Colfax and Tower.

Tevin Rooks was sleeping inside the burning duplex. Firefighters woke him up by pounding on his door.

"I got pulled out the house really just in shorts, no socks, no shirt, all this clothing was provided by my neighbors," Rooks said. "Thank God for firemen and everybody out here."

The duplex was destroyed. Damages are estimated at $300,000.

An extra fire truck was on hand because it was so windy firefighters were worried the flames might jump to another unit.
