LifeQuest Helps Young Cancer Victim Get Home

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - A little girl from Colorado is back home on Saturday. Katie Kish is receiving treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Friends and family greeted the 2-year-old at Centennial Airport on Friday.

Katie flew to Colorado thanks to LifeQuest, a non-profit organization. The toddler couldn't make the trip home from Iowa on a commercial flight or by car.

Katie and her parents were visiting family when she was diagnosed. She's been receiving treatment in Iowa for the past 5 weeks.

"This was just a miracle that this came through for us. Amy was just describing the situation to a friend of hers and one thing led to another and here we are today," said Kyle Kish, Katie's father. "I'm just more than happy to be swept up in it very thankful for it and happy to get my baby home."

Katie will continue treatment at The Children's Hospital in Aurora for the next 2 years. There is a high recovery rate for her type of blood cancer.
