Western Colorado Youth Is 3rd To Die From Flu This Year
DENVER (AP) -- Colorado health officials say a juvenile from Garfield County has died from the flu, becoming the state's third flu death of the season and the first pediatric death.
The juvenile died Monday at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. Officials haven't release any other information, but the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports the victim is a 17-year-old boy who attended Rifle High School.
More than 135 people have been hospitalized with flu in Colorado since Oct. 3.
Last year, 61 people had died from flu and more than 2,000 had been hospitalized in Colorado by mid-January.
