Montrose District Attorney Resigns Amid Sexual Assault Allegations
MONTROSE, Colo. (CBS4)- The district attorney in Montrose and surrounding southwest Colorado counties has resigned following sexual assault charges. Myrl Serra sent in his letter of resignation to Governor-elect John Hickenlooper on Wednesday. The letter states he will step down effective Tuesday, Jan. 11.
Serra is facing criminal charges of demanding sexual favors from female employees in his office.
He claims he is stepping down because another district attorney is being appointed while Serra deals with legal issues.
Serra said he doesn't want to burden taxpayers with two salaries. He has been district attorney in that area for 12 years.
