Fire In Brighton Injures 4, Displaces 16

Firefighters were forced to rescue several people in an apartment fire Wednesday night in Brighton.

The fire broke out at about 10 p.m. at the building, located at 705 East Bridge Street.

When fire crews arrived they found flames coming out of a second story window and going up to the third floor.

Several people were trapped and one decided to jump from a third story window to escape the flames.

One person was listed in critical condition, another is in serious condition. The nature of their injuries and injuries to two others who were also hurt weren't exactly clear.

Investigators on Thursday morning were looking into the cause of the fire.

The nine apartments in the building were declared unsafe to live in on Thursday.
