Corrections Officer Arrested, Accused Of Internet Luring

GOLDEN, Colo. - A 59-year-old corrections officer was arrested on Sunday in Jefferson County on suspicion of attempted sexual assault of a child, Internet luring of a child, and enticement of a child.

The Jefferson County District Attorney's Child Sex Offender Internet Investigations Unit arrested Arthur Frank Stafford, from Sterling, at the Village Inn at Kipling and Interstate 70.

"He is alleged to have driven to the Village Inn to meet an under-aged female for the purpose of sexual contact. The person he believed to be the under-aged teen was actually an undercover District Attorney investigator," Pam Russell with the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office said in a statement.

Stafford was arrested after a month-long investigation. He's alleged to have sent photos of male genitalia and asked for sexually graphic photos of the person he believed to be an under-aged teen.

Stafford was in court Monday to be advised of his rights. He's scheduled to be advised of charges filed on Thursday.
